Emma Long Metropolitan Park - Turkey Creek Trail

Welcome Y'all! Unleashed is how we roll here. Ha! That's how I would tweet this hiking experience at Emma Long Metropolitan Park.

Just half an hour from downtown Austin, Emma Long Metropolitan Park is a easy hike for early risers or late afternoon during week days. The park is 7 days a week from 7am - 10pm. Previously called a City Park, it was later named after Emma Long, first woman to serve as Mayor Pro Tem in Austin.

Turkey Creek Trail is about 3miles round-trip and your pets can be unleashed. Be prepared to clean up after them and cross a few creeks! Pretty flat and easy hike with smoothing sounds of the creek flowing and chirping sounds of Golden-Cheeked Warbler aka Golden Finch of Texas. Warblers nest here and hikers are asked to not go beyond the trails to explore.

Did you know that these Golden-Cheeked Warblers are the only birds whose breeding range is limited to Texas? I think this is super cool and another pride to Texans.

Mobile Connectivity: Good

Pets: Allowed unleash

You may spot: Golden-Cheeked Warbler
